Roleplaying
- Dungeons and Dragons - the roleplaying game of choice for me. I've been gaming since I was 14 years old, so over half my life. I started in highschool, gaming in the AD&D 2nd Ed. version - mostly in Dragonlance and some Ravenloft and Forgotten Realms. When I hit college, I found another group and was introduced to 1rst Ed. Greyhawk which I still love to this day. After college, I played in mostly 3rd Ed. Forgotten Realms and I have DM-ed as well as been a player as all those years have trolled (no pun intended) on. Now-a-days, I play 3.5 Ed. Forgotten Realms as a member of the Cherokee County D&D Gaming group, detailed below.
- As I mentioned, I am a member of the Cherokee County D&D Gaming Group, where I am one of five members (1 DM and 4 players currently). We gather semi-monthly on Sundays to enjoy each others company and to enjoy a good game of 3.5 D&D. I help maintain the web site for our group (link above) and I encourage those interested to swing by to read up on our adventures in the Forums section, check out the cast of characters, and even send us an application should you be interested in joining us. We have room for a 5th player currently.
- If you are interested in roleplaying and have never been, you really should think about going to a convention. The biggest one around these parts is DragonCon, held annually in downtown Atlanta. It can be quite a blast and is definitely worth trying at least once.

My Favorite Authors
- At the very top of the list, I must place Terry Brooks (my apologies to the others on my list – but it was Terry that "hooked" me on reading).
I'll be writing more on Terry and how his books inspired me to really start reading for pleasure in
my blog, so keep an eye out. In fact, I will be writing more about all of these authors on my blog.
- I thought about putting Robert Jordan as runner up on my list, but truthfully, it would be
J.V. Jones. She has less books, but more stories and
the characters in her stories are highly memorable. I love her style and her humor.
- Finally, a shout out to Robert Jordan. A very
good friend of mine, Nathan, hooked me on him and his Wheel of Time saga, one of the best epic
fantasies of all time in my opinion. It is a very long series (up to 12 books now – I think),
but definitely a page turner. Plus, I hear Mr. Jordan lives in Charleston, SC – where most of my
mom's family is from and where I spent many summers growing up.

Geocaching
- So what exactly is geocaching? Read all about it…

- Hey, if you are going to go geocaching – you'll need a GPSr (Global Positioning Satellite receiver).
Find one here.
- My current receiver of choice is the Magellan eXplorist 210. Though I also own an older (and bigger) GPS unit from Magellan,
the Magellan Meridian Platinum that I tend to use mostly in the car while traveling.
- Once you get your GPSr, it is totally optional, but I highly recommend that you practice what is known as "paperless caching". And to do that, you'll definitely want the GSAK application
and the Cachemate application.
